Hidden treasures of Jevrem Grujic



On Thursday , the 13th February 2014 starting at 19.00 in the Gallery of the Central Military Club in Belgrade , the exhibition " Hidden Treasure of Jevrem Grujic’s home " , which reveals a rich treasure of art objects from 18th , 19th , and 20th centuries .

The exhibition, which is a joint project of the Jevrema Grujic’s home, the Institute for Protection of Cultural Monuments , the Central Institute for Conservation in Belgrade Media Center "Odbrana" , will be opened by Defence Minister Nebojsa Rodic .

On behalf of the organizers , guests will be addressed by Šećerović Lazar and Aleksandar Conic , from Jevrem Grujic’s house, Nela Mićović , acting director of the Institute for Protection of Cultural Monuments , prof .
Mila Živančević , director of the Central Institute for Conservation in Belgrade and Lt. Col. Slavoljub M . Markovic , Director of MC "Odbrana".

The collection includes the most important works of art of the Serbian artists : Paja Jovanovic , Uros Predic , Stevan Todorovic , Uros Knezevic , Andrej Petrovic , Zora Petrovic , Ivana Tabakovića , George Krstic and objects , antique furniture , diplomatic uniform , a collection of old weapons from I and II Serbian uprising , archival material while a conceptually and spatially separate segment based on photos of the first disco in the Balkans , opened in the House of Jevrem Grujića in 1967.

Until 15 March 2014 when the exhibition closes, visitors will be able to see the oldest preserved wedding dress in Serbia from in 1856 , what Jelena Grujic looked like, the first woman decorated by a sultan , the gun of Hajduk Veljko highest European award - the Order of the French Legion of Honor , the Bulgarian imperial crown , Turkish gold crescent ...wedding gift that Stevan and Stana Đirić received from Queen Natalija and King Milan Obrenovic.
