Regular annual informing of DAs in Serbia
In the House of Guards in Topcider a regular debriefing of foreign military representatives on the "Result of the reform of the defense system in terms of the Department of Defense Policy " was held today. Attendees were addressed by Assistant Minister for Defense Policy Miroslav Jovanovic, Head of the Strategic Planning Department of Security Policy, Major General Prof . Mitar Kovac welcoming them together with defense attaché of the U.S. Colonel Paul Brocen and Acting Chief of the Directorate for International Military Cooperation Colonel Milan Konjikovac .
The assistant minister Jovanović wished everyone welcome at the regular annual information intended for those military and diplomatic service in Serbia.
- The continuity in maintaining these activities and our constant endeavor to help each year by providing the best data, are yet another indicator of the openness of our defence system , commitment to collaboration and partnership . Without diminishing the importance of specific forms of defense cooperation by Serbia is conducting daily with more than 60 countries around the world and a large number of international and regional organizations , such meetings are an excellent opportunity for a joint analysis of results, and the identification of opportunities to launch new initiatives , said Jovanovic .
Also, current topics of discussion were the functioning of the System for Planning, Programming , Budgeting and Execution (PPBE) , the projection of defense budget for in 2014 and the results achieved in the field of international military cooperation . Especially prominent were the analysis of activities aimed at building integrity and fighting corruption in the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces , respect for the principle of gender equality and the implementation of Security Council Resolution 1325 of the United Nations, were presented and future priorities in the reform of the defense system of Serbia .
In the concluding remarks, the Assistant Minister of Defense said that the outgoing 2013, as regards Department of Defense Policy was marked by a substantial increase in the number of our members in multinational operations of the UN and EU , analysis and reorganization of the defense system in order to increase its efficiency , work on improving the normative and strategic framework to regulate the area of defense , increasing the scope as well as the number and quality of international cooperation , as well as continuous training of staff and the promotion of scientific research in the defense system of the Republic of Serbia.
