Commencement of the "Thunder 2013" Exercise



At the premises of the Joint Operations Command of the Serbian Armed Forces, as well as at several points throughout the country today, "Thunder 2013" Exercise commenced, with the main objective of training and practicing forces for rapid response. The exercise is led by officer for exercise planning Deputy Commander of the Joint Operations Command, Major General Goran Radovanovic, and Commander of the Exercise Colonel Zeljko Tramošljika.

According to the Chief of the Exercise Colonel Sasa Stefanovic, the goals of the five-day exercise have been defined at different levels of command.

- At the strategic level and at the level of the operational units this is the command of the forces of the operation, and tactical units are practicing response in accordance with the norms and rules in the field in relation to what the command requires from them – Colonel Stefanovic pointed out adding that the exercise involves members of the Joint Operations Command, as well as the organizational units of the General Staff and the Serbian Armed Forces.

The exercise has been realised since March – Colonel Stefanovic stressed – and the focus is on commanding or receiving information, rapid situation assessment, quality decision-making and dissemination of information.
