Joint analysis for taking measures to build integrity in MoD and SAF together with NATO expert team
As part of the participation of Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces in NATO Initiative for Building Integrity and Decreasing the level of corruption in defense, it has taken on the obligation to conduct regular joint analysis of the implementation of measures recommended in the report on self-assessment, which was agreed upon and published on the website of the Ministry of Defence in November 2012. The analysis is performed on six-month and annual basis.
While fulfilling the said obligation, the Ministry of Defence has drafted a report on the implementation of measures to build the integrity of the MoD for the period 1 November 2012 to 01 June 2013, and then submitted it to the International Secretariat of NATO. After submitting the report, Assistant Minister for Defence Miroslav Jovanovic met in Belgrade with the expert team of the NATO International Secretariat led by Dr. Alberto Bin, Director for Integration, Partnership and Cooperation (IPCTS) PASP/NATO~.
The report included six topics: cooperation with MoD and NATO representatives on projects to build integrity and fight corruption in the field of defense, cooperation between MoD and the organization "Transparency International", the influence of current legislation on building integrity in the defense system of Serbia, other activities MoD and SAF which have contributed to building integrity in defense systems, the analysis of the problems in building integrity, as well as defining future tasks.
NATO experts have concluded that the achieved level of cooperation of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia with NATO Programme for building integrity in defense may serve as an example to other participants in the NATO Building Integrity Tailored Programme in Southeastern Europe. At the meeting, both sides expressed interest in developing a training program in Serbia where they would be trained and educated as future educators in the MoD and SAF units, and the establishment of a regional network of experts to build integrity and fight corruption in Southeast Europe. The content of the whole six month report will be published on the website of the Ministry of Defence (in Serbian and English) at the end the process of harmonizing the report with the NATO.
