Informing foreign DAs on MoD projects



In the House of Guards the Directorate for Project Management of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia informed the military representatives of their functional responsibilities and major projects today.

In his opening statement, Deputy Minister for Budget and Finance Srbislav Cvejic, on behalf of the Ministry of Defence, thanked the guests for their understanding of donor support and pointed out that the Ministry of Defence has a complex and highly accountable system.

- It is necessary to enable a steady and continuous organizational and structural upgrading. We wish to orient our activities conducted mostly on contemporary functional and technological project support structures of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces in order to realize the priorities in the modernization of our defense system - said the deputy minister.

Director of the Directorate for Project Management, Proda Secerov presented the new structure of the Ministry of Defense to foreign military representatives and informed them with the staff which are facing new challenges and responsibility, and in a short time of its existence, has prepared about 20 projects four of which were presented today.

- Key functions of the Directorate are planning and preparation of projects, applying the relevant institutions in the country and abroad, as well as the implementation and monitoring of approved projects - said Dr. Secerov, who remarked that one of the purposes of today's presentation, which was attended by the State Secretary Zoran Djordjevic, was to present continuity of structural changes in the Ministry of Defence of July 2012.

Foreign military representatives were given a presentation of projects to improve office operations at the MoD and SAF by using modern information - communication technologies (EDMC), by improvement of infrastructure in the main centers of power and internet , capacity building in MoD CUK RCBD and project on bioterrorism.

Guests, mostly interested in projects on bioterrorism and IT , noted that today's information was very useful.

Swiss Fonfederation Defence Attaché Colonel Markus Widmer thanked the host for the systematic information on the projects for which he hoped would garner the support of the partner countries and wished them every success in their work.

Foreign military representatives were at the end of the briefing welcomed by State Secretary Zoran Djordjevic, who said that this event is very important for the Ministry of Defence because, it in part presented projects whose implementation is being planned. He expressed hope that cooperation in the implementation of major projects would continue to mutual benefit.
