Medals awarded to the members of SAF and MoD
At a ceremony in the war room of the old General Staff Building gold and silver medals were presented for service to the most dedicated members of SAF and MoD. The awards under the jurisdicition of the President of the Republic of Serbia were presented by First Deputy Prime Minister and defence minister Aleksandar Vucic. The ceremony was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces.Minister Vucic congratulated all those the upcoming holiday, Independence Day, stating he hoped that the symbolism of that day would never be forgotten. The national holiday, according to him, is related to two historical events of our constitutional law and military history – declaration of the Sretenje Constitution in 1835and the outbreak of the First Serbian uprising in 1804.
- Today we are proud to say that we are true descendants of Serbian rebels, and soldiers, and the soldiers of both world wars and the Balkans. Republic of Serbia today is a factor of stability in the region, and its army ensure safe development of good bilateral relations, said the Minister commending those awarded for their contribution and defense and the Republic of Serbia.- As defense minister, a member of the Serbian government, but most of all personally, I am proud of our military, because the men who work in are those who have always cherished the highest principle of freedom we should protect, Vucic said.
By the decree of the President 65 gold and 75 silver medals were awarded. Defense Minister at today's ceremony presented 64 medals.
