Intensification of cooperationwith Algeria



At the National Defence Ministry of the Democratic Republic of Algeria, the first meeting of the Joint Commission charged with overseeing the Algeria-Serbian military cooperation was held from 8-12 January 2013.

The meeting was chaired by Major General Danko Jovanovic, Head of Logistics (J-4) SAF is also co-president of the Serbian part of the Joint Commission and Major Genera Ghris Abdelhamid - Head of the Department of the organization and logistics of the General Staff of the Algerian armed forces is also co-chairman of the Algerian part of the Joint Committee.

It was noted that the friendly relations between the two countries are an excellent basis for the development and intensification of overall cooperation, and cooperation in the defense field is the highest form of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

The first session of the Joint Commission was held in order to identify areas of common interest, cooperation and a synergy of technical and military-industrial potential and capacity of the two countries to enable that technology and knowledge under privileged partnership in the service of common interests be used by both sides.

The focus of the meeting were discussions about the continuation and improvement of strategic cooperation in the defense field, the activity of bilateral cooperation in 2012, the harmonization of bilateral military cooperation plan for 2013 and the signing of the Rules of Procedure of the Joint Commission.

It was agreed that defense cooperation should be intensified especially in the fields of military education and military economy including the military-military cooperation and other forms of mutual interest.

It is planned that the second session of the Joint Commission be held by the end of 2013 in Belgrade.
