At "Beranovac" race track near Kraljevo a demonstration exercise presenting the development, application and technical characteristics of off-road vehicle FAP 1118 in the organization of the General Logistics Department of Material Resources was held yesterday.
According to the exercise leader, head of the Department of Traffic and Transportation of the General Logistics, Col. Zeljko Rankovic, it is a vehicle that has been officially included in the equipment of the Army of Serbia and it needs to be presented to colleagues who will use it, as well as to colleagues from the field and transportation service.
The demonstration exercise, in four sections, driving on in field and road conditions, overcoming obstacles, and pulling the vehicle, soldiers mounting the cargo box, as well as the test drive enabled that all SUV features of the Serbian Army be seen, which is fitted with Euro 3 standard engine, ABS unit and radial tires without an inner tire.
So far, 78 4 ton-FAP 1118 BS / AB 4x4 vehicles are going to be delivered, 68 have been delivered to the Serbian Army, while remaining vehicles will be delivered next year.
The development of the said vehicle and its adoption of a system of weapons and equipment of the Serbian Army has created conditions for replacing TAM vehicles with this type, as TAM is still being used by the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Army.
