State Secretary Nikolic meets with the Ambassador of Spain
State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence Aleksandar Nikolic met with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to Serbia Arthur Laklaustrom Beltran, on the occasion of today's visit to the visit of the Spanish CHOD to the Serbian GS.
The Secretary of State Nikolic acquainted the Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia with strategic decisions in the process of European integration and the current results of implementation of foreign policy priorities. The fight against organized crime and systemic corruption is a top priority of the Government which it realizes with the support of the competent organs of the Kingdom of Spain.
"Serbia will continue its European path and with promoting regional cooperation. The Republic of Serbia is committed to defense policy based on military neutrality, "said Secretary of State.
Both sides expressed satisfaction with the fact that Serbia and Spain are cultivate friendly relations with no open issues which need to be resolved.
"The Serbian government will respect previous agreements between Belgrade and Pristina. Serbian President and Minister of Defence support resuming the dialogue at a higher level, with the participation of UN and other stakeholders, "concluded Secretary Nikolic.
Ambassador Laklaustra confirmed satisfaction with the level of defense cooperation with Serbia. "Spain has a wealth of experience from participation in peacekeeping operations and is committed to joint involvement. The Ministry of Defence can be proud of the University of Defence and Military Medical Academy, "said Laklaustra.
He confirmed Spain’s proactive stance regarding its commitment to support Serbia's future EU integrations. Also, besides evident bilateral military cooperation, intensifying of economic relations and trade is expected as well.
