Team of the Army is the winner of 5th Sports Championship of the Serbian Armed Forces

Announcing the winner and awarding the recognition for the achieved results, the Fifth Sports Championship of Serbian Armed Forces has been officially closed today in the "Ribnica" barracks in Kraljevo. The winner of the championship in the overall placement is the team of the Army whose representative was handed the trophy and congratulated on the success achieved by the Chief of General Staff Lieutenant General Ljubisa Dikovic.

The second place in the overall standings after five days of competition, belong to the team of the Training Command, while the General Staff team took third place. The members of the Air Force and Air defence were the fourth, while the team of the Ministry of Defence won the fifth position.

Closing this year's competition, the Chief of General Staff congratulated the winners, pointing out that in the past few days, students had the opportunity to weigh the individual and collective capacities.

- You checked your motor properties, but also the spirit, strength of mind and will. You strengthened the belonging to a group and a team, a collective. These are the values that must be possessed by a member of our military. It is important to participate and it is a success to be in a team that represents its branch and unit – General Dikovi? said stressing that the results achieved are encouraging and that in a competition, a respect of the opponents is an imperative.

He expressed the hope that members of our military will defend the signs of our country also in international competitions in the future.

Military athletes, who competed in five disciplines in the individual standings have won a total of 156 medals. In the most demanding military discipline – the military all-around competition, the most successful was Lieutenant Srdjan Djuric from the Training Command, and the second was Sergeant Miroslav Lackovi? from the team of the Army, and the bronze medal was won by Lieutenant Branislav Tosic from among the Air Force and Air Defence.

In team competition in archery, the best scorers were shooters from the Training Command, the first place in volleyball went also to the team of the Training Command, and the first place in Futsal went to the Army. The most successful athletes of this year’s Serbian Armed Forces Championship, were the members of the Training Command, and the best results were achieved by judo fighters from the Army. In the tracks for orienteering in Kopaonik, the most resourceful were competitors from the Army.

Closing Ceremony of the 5th Sports Championship of the Serbian Armed Forces and handing the awards to participants was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, local authorities, religious communities, as well as Kraljevo elementary school pupils.
