Marathon team of MoD in Moscow



The capital of Russia hosted the 32nd Moscow International Marathon. In the long run 42,195 m marathon members of the team of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia, the Military Academy took part in the marathon: Major Alexander Nesevski, Sergeant Goran Cegar, Ksenija Bubnjevic military employee and a professional soldier of the sports platoon Mariana Cegar Lukic. Head of the delegation was Lieutenant Colonel Dragan Todorov.

In extremely cold and windy weather, all our representatives have successfully completed the marathon course and achieved good results. A professional soldier in sports platoon Mariana Cegar Lukic, came first in her age category (19th place in overall competition), military officer Ksenija Bubnjevic, ranked 20th place and set a new personal record Major Aleksandar Nesevski, who set a new record as best in the marathon, took the first place in his peer group (35th place), while Sergeant Goran Cegar in his age category ranked 6th (67th place).

Members of our marathon team were received the Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia in Russia Jelica Kurjak who expressed gratitude to the team for dedication and success of our country’s representation in Moscow, on their way to achieving good results in Moscow, our MoD team was given significant support by our DA in Russia Colonel Zoran Stojkovic and Assistant DA Lt. Col, Marko Markovic.

There were more than 1500 competitors in the race, which was also the official championship of Russia. The start and finishing line of the race was at the Red Square.
