Families of fallen soldiers visit the 1st training centre



Traditionally, for the 10th time , Vidovdan gathering of family members of fallen soldiers (members of the JNA, VJ and MUP) with members of the Serbian Army was held in the first training center in Sombor. Under the auspices of the Ministry of Defence the meeting of the General Staff of the Army of Serbia and the Association of Families of fallen soldiers of wars 1990-1999 was organized.

In the barracks, “Aerodrom” at the memorial, Proud Memories" which members of the first training center revealed and consecrated on 24th March 2010, the representatives of the Association of fallen soldiers and Serbian Army laid a commemorative wreath.

- The soldiers here are learning military skills, but they are also gaining knowledge and experience of mankind as well as learning to love freedom. Our motto in daily activities is to always be the there for Serbia first, said, among other things, the Commander of the Center Lt. Lazar Ostojic.

The participants of Vidovdan gathering in the building were received by deputy mayor Vasa Relic, who pointed out that the citizens of Sombor during the tumultuous history made a significant contribution to liberation.

Tribute to the fallen soldiers was also paid at the monument to fallen soldiers from 1990 to 1999 in the city park.

During the trip on St. Vitus day the participants visited Kovilj monastery, where memorial liturgy to fallen soldiers was served, and they also visited the Petrovaradin Fortress in Novi Sad and Junakovic spa.
