The visit of the Israeli delegation
Delegation of the Ministry of Defence of the State of Israel, headed by the director for Europe, Directorate of Defence Policy Jakob Laor, paid a working visit to the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia from 19 to 21 June 2012. The aim of the visit were bilateral consultations on defense and agreeing and signing of bilateral defense cooperation plan for 2012.On the first day of the visit, the Israeli delegation was received by State Secretary Dr. Tanja Miscevic. In an open and friendly conversation during which they exchanged information about the current state of the two ministries of defense and the two armies, it was noted that there is room for future cooperation in defense to a higher level.
On behalf of the International Military Cooperation, Bilateral Defense Cooperation plan for 2012 was signed by the Head of Department for Bilateral Cooperation Colonel Milan Konjikovac, while on behalf of the Ministry of Defence of the State of Israel it was signed by Jacob Laor. The planned cooperation activities between the two ministries and two armies include exchange of high level visits, cooperation, and military police unit in charge of search and rescue, and various forms of training. Also the exchange of appropriate representatives of military educational institutions is envisioned by the plan.
Further on during the visit, The Israeli delegation met with the Chief of the Military Police Brigadier General Dejan Jankovic and representatives of JP "Yugoimport-SDPR." During a meeting with the Chief of the Military Police, the guests from Israel had the opportunity to inform themselves about the place and role of military police in the Ministry of Defence of Serbia and, later, to see for themselves the level of proficiency of the battalion of special purpose ''Kobre''.In talks with representatives of “JP-SDPR Jugoimport'' ideas about the possibilities of future cooperation were exchanged
On the last day of the visit, organized by the Institute of Strategic Research, the Head of the Defense Policy Directorate Jakob Laor presented to organizational units of MoD and SAF the current political and security situation in Israel and the Israeli view of the situation in the Middle East region. This very brief and succinct presentation was met with great interest.
