Foreign DAs in the Military Museum

Foreign military representatives accredited in our country have visited the exhibition "Old weapons of Asia" in the Military Museum in Kalemegdan.

On behalf of the Ministry of Defence the guests were greeted by State Secretary Igor Jovicic, who on that occasion said that this collection of old weapons of Asian warriors the Military Museum has been collecting for more than half a century in different ways.

- For the most part, items were purchased in 1950s, when the museum bought them off from people who received them as gifts, or were themselves collectors of weapons of different cultures. Also, part of the exhibits are a gift of the state Burma, after the exhibition of this country’s weapons in 1952 in Belgrade - Jovicic said, adding that the exhibition should certainly motivate us to organize similar national exhibition.

With the melodies of the East and lecture given by the senior curator at the Military Museum Andjelija Radovic, foreign military representatives were able to see the weapons and military equipment of Japan, China, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Iran and Indonesia, which are an important aspect of these cultures .

The originality of subject and artistry, but also an interesting way of the use of these weapons, reflect warrior spirit, mentality and traditions of those countries.
