VOA day marked

On occasion of the 6th May - the Day of Military Intelligence Agency, this evening a reception was given in the war room of the old HQ.

National Assembly Speaker Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic, Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic, Minister Sutanovac, ministers of Serbia, the Serbian Army Chief of Staff Lieutenant-General Ljubisa Dikovic, the Ministry of Defense and the Army of Serbia, religious communities, military attaches accredited in Serbia and Many guests attended the ceremony which marked 92 years of existence and service.

Congratulating the members of that holiday service, Sutanovac said that the agency is important as it represents our country abroad, and that is the core of intelligence and security system of our country.

- Contemporary challenges, risks and threats can not be denied if you do not have adequate and timely information in order to actively go in the direction of the problem. In this regard, it is extremely important role VOA - said the Minister of Defence. He added that all the tasks set before the Agency successfully met, and the progress of the entire defense system is also reflected in these agencies.

He said that the VOA, which now has a military-diplomatic functions, covering more countries than before, which is important for the promotion of our country, especially its capacity in the defense industry.

- We have not had the good fortune to live in a peaceful environment and we passed all the challenges, risks and threats. For the first time we have a situation on our hands where certain groups, which commit obvious acts of terrorism in our region, are called Islamists. We have closed in on them and are doing everything to help our friends in the region, as these Islamists would not continue creating problems - Sutanovac said, adding that, in this sense, VOA is a significant capacity in the region, particularly in preventive terms. The staff at the agency has been rejuvenated, he said, which will contribute to even better work in future.

VOA Director, Brigadier General Dragan Vladisavljevic in welcoming the guests, said that the year had been marked the activities of non-military threats, and their proponents have in place a network of international terrorism.

- State and military leadership, we reported on the situation in crisis areas, especially in the missions in which they are engaged Serbian soldiers. By engaging a network of delegations of Defense, through which the agency exercised military and diplomatic function, provided a significant contribution to the promotion of civil and military policy and the development of bilateral cooperation - Vladisavljevic general said, adding that the completed legislation contributed to the good work of the Agency, and will therefore be continued reforms .

VOA marks the sixth May day when in 1920 a Regulation on the General Headquarters and the in General staff profession of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenians entered into force. By this regulation a special department of intelligence was established, for the first time since the creation of a modern army in our region, the intelligence function is separated into a separate organizational unit.

The military intelligence agency, whose motto is "faster, better and wiser," is a modern service of the Ministry of Defense, the intelligence function performed for the defense system of Serbia.
