First tenants in "Vojvoda Stepa Stepanovic" residential part



Defence Minister Dragan Sutanovac handed the keys today to five military apartments that were built on the site of the former barracks "Vojvoda Stepa Stepanovic." The same did the Minister of Environment, Mining and Spatial Planning Oliver Dulic for five civilians in this neighborhood. The ceremony of presenting the keys was attended by the Director of the Building Directorate of Serbia Dragan Grujic.

After the presentation of keys, Ministers Sutanovac said and Dulic visited one of the flats.

Congratulating all those who received flats, Sutanovac said that it is now the largest project of settling the housing issues of the defense system and the civilian population. He added that this project would save lots of money from the military budget which are allocated for the living expenses of the military personnel, the funds reaching 120 thousand EUR per month, a total of 2.5 million euros a year, which will be then invested into housing and further settling of housing issues.

Thanks to the Building Directorate, the Ministry of Defence has made large profits, amounting to 77 million EUR, which is about 875 apartments, of which 150 outside Belgrade that we get by assigning the barracks "Stepa Stepanovi?" - said the Minister adding Sutanovac that, in five years more than 5.5 thousand housing issues which is something that has not been dealt with for years.

Speaking about the importance of successfully completing the state project, Minister Dulic said that all those who will soon move into these apartments will see the top quality of the apartments built, in accordance with the standards of 21st century, adding that the apartments were built entirely of domestic made materials.
