Minister visits CRBD center in Krusevac



Defense Minister Dragan Sutanovac and his associates visited the Centre for training of RCBD in Krusevac barracks "Car Lazar".

According to the minister this Center, which is the pride of the Serbian Army which along the Military Medical Academy is a regional center which in the last four years in the field of CBRN protection has trained more than 400 foreign officers.

"The Center has trained over four hundred foreign officers, and will continue to be extremely important, not only in terms of training of the Army of Serbia, but also members of the Partnership for Peace armies. This is an important training center for the Army of Serbia, which is why I am glad that the experience gained here is such everyone can recognize the CRBD protection center in Krusevac and everyone knows that such resources do not exist anywhere in the region", said Sutanovac expressed a desire to continue training and equipping of the Center, which was discussed today in an interview with the Commander of the Minister. He said the infrastructure work required, but the future development of the Centre will focus on raising levels of education and equipping of our Armed Forces.

LCommander of the RCBD center Col Slobodan Savic said that the unit had in the past implemented important activities at the international level. In the framework of cooperation with the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, every year at the Centre is offering courses for the purposes of this organization and this is one of the obligations of the Republic of Serbia in the implementation of the Convention.

"We have trained a large number of participants. Organize training for the inspectors of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, and in turning the Centre as a Regional Center, each year the center organizes training for other countries in the region, the Partnership for Peace countries and some NATO member states, "said Colonel Savic.

After the introductory presentation, during which the commanders of the Centre presented the current status and future plans of the service, the defense minister visited the technical - tactical assembly of weapons and equipment used in the work of the unit. This was followed by a presentation exercise.

CRBD service of the Serbian Army has had a long tradition since 1932 , in which the RCBD Centre has played a leading role. Centre has been in Krusevac since 1956. In the process of reform of the defense system, since 2007, the center has fallen under the Training Command of SAF.
