Norwegian delegation's visit



A three-member delegation from the Ministry of Defence of Norway visited Belgrade 7 and 8 March 2012 to discuss bilateral defense cooperation. The delegation was led by Acting Chief of the International Military Cooperation of the Ministry of Defence of Norway, Captain Gunnar Helo. At the head of the delegation of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia was the Acting Chief of the International Military Cooperation of the Ministry of Defence of Serbia, Colonel Predrag Kraljevic.

The talks focused on the achieved level of bilateral cooperation in defense, cooperation between Serbia, EU and NATO, Srebia’s involvement in peacekeeping missions and priorities for the coming period. Previous cooperation on both sides was evaluated as having been very successful, as confirmed by a high degree of implementation of activities in 2011, as well as mutual interest in the continuation and deepening of bilateral military cooperation. The target field of cooperation is military medical cooperation, cooperation in military education and human resource management.

Guests were acquainted with the achieved level of defense reform, the current activities of international cooperation of the Ministry of Defence of Serbia and plans for 2012.

During the visit, bilateral military cooperation plan for 2012 was signed, which includes activities in the target areas of cooperation while co-operation in energy efficiency was also initiated.
