Minister Sutanovac meets with the Italian defense minister
Defense Minister Dragan Sutanovac met with his Italian counterpart Gianpaolo Di Paolo, in the Serbian-Italy summit.
Ministers expressed satisfaction with cooperation in defense and noted that it would in future be based primarily on cooperation in education, training and development.
Another topic for discussion at the summit was Italy’s MoD’s support to including Serbia into the Common Security and Defence Policy, as well as to the activities within the Partnership for Peace program and providing support to participation in all regional initiatives.Italy's support to Serbia’s rapid accession to the European Defence Agency, which will be discussed in the EU on 23rd of March.
Sutanovac said he expected both countries would continue successful cooperation in defense and pointed out that we are interested in establishing military-economic and scientific-technical cooperation with companies from Italy.
Sutanovac thanked Italy for its support to the reforms of Serbia’s defense system and European integration of Serbia, highlighting the importance of Italy’s support in obtaining the candidate status for EU membership.
