Agreement on Medical Care for Participants of European Handball Championship

Head of the Military Health Department of the Ministry of Defence, Colonel Dr Zoran Popovic, and Secretary General of the Serbian Handball Association, Bozidar Djurkovic, have signed today an agreement on medical care service for the participants of the European Handball Championship to be held in Serbia from 17 to 29 January. The doctors of the Military Medical Academy and the Nis Military Hospital will take care of health of the participants.

State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence, Zoran Jevtic said on this occasion that the Ministry of Defence has been giving support to all major sporting events in Serbia over the last five years.

- Over the recent years, our ministry has been giving special importance to the development of sport, physical training and physical fitness within the defence system so that this part of our cooperation with civil structures is also very important and has been particularly intensified since the Universiade. The entire military health system has been put into operation in the segment that is required for such an event. I hope that our doctors and technicians will not have much to do, and I can assure you that for the military health care it is a peace of cake that is not insurmountable, and that we are ready to meet all the requirements.

Head of the Military Health Department of the Ministry of Defence, Colonel Dr Zoran Popovic, noted that high-quality material resources have been provided as well as personnel that will cover all the events at the championship.

- I can say to the Serbian Handball Association that they can be sure of the seriousness and quality of work that we will perform in Vrsac, Belgrade and Nis. For this purpose we have put in operation our resources such as the Military Medical Academy and the Nis Military Hospital as it is the practice in the world that such great events are secured also by the military medical service.

Contract signing was attended by representatives of the Serbian Handball Association and the national team who said that our team is ready and that this event is extremely important to promote our country in the world of sports.
