Session of the Senate of the University of Defence
In the Rectorate of the University of Defence, the second regular session of the Senate has been held, chaired by Professor Major General Miodrag Jevtic, the Rector of the University. The session adopted the proposals for the Rules on terms and manner of engagement of a visiting professor and the Rules on terms and procedures for the awarding of honorary doctorate of the University of Defence.
On that occasion, General Jevtic has launched an initiative that the retired Brigadier General Prof. Rudolf Urban, Rector of the University of Defence of the Czech Republic, be granted award of Honorary Doctor of the University of Defence in Belgrade. Explaining his initiative, General Jevtic pointed out that Professor Urban generously assisted in transferring the experience gained during the reform of the Czech military education system and accreditation of study programmes.
"These experiences were made available to us during the visits of our delegations to the University of Defence in Brno, as well as during the return visits by the Rector of the University of Defence and his associates to the Military Academy and the Military Medical Academy. Also, in cooperation with the management of the Military Medical Academy, the exchange of researchers has been realised and an initiative for the organization of joint doctoral studies in the field of medical science have been launched. All these activities were significantly in favour of the affirmation of the idea of forming the University of Defence in Belgrade", General Jevtic said.
During the session, members of the Senate were introduced to the activities that are ahead of them in the forthcoming period, which will enable the University of Defence as an integral part of the academic community of the Republic of Serbia to be ready for an operational implementation of all goals and objectives set out on the occasion of its founding in February 2011.
