First Sub-Echelon of Infantry Units

The first sub-echelon of infantry units consists of multirole armored combat vehicles “LAZAR-3K”, “LAZAR-3M” and “LAZAR-3” and BTR-80A.

The sub-echelon is led by Major Bojan Bojković.

8x8 "LAZAR-3K", "LAZAR-3M" and "LAZAR-3"

The 8x8  "LAZAR-3", "LAZAR-3K", "LAZAR-3M" and "LAZAR-3" are multirole armored combat vehicles intended for infantry and special forces units. In addition to high mobility, they have a high level of ballistic and mine protection with modular additional armor. They can be equipped with various types of weapons, from a remotely controlled 12.7 mm combat station to a turret with a 30 mm cannon, depending on the variant.

BTR-80A Armored Personnel Carrier

BTR-80A Armored Personnel Carriers are intended for infantry, reconnaissance, mechanized and special operations units, where they are used for transportation and support of infantry units, intelligence collection by reconnaissance and special operations units, as well as anti-tank operations if the vehicles are armed with POVR systems. As a platform, they can be used for multiple purposes (command, logistics, medical vehicle, etc.).

The efficiency of using such vehicles on rugged terrain is very significant due to their good ability to overcome natural obstacles and navigation capabilities. Equipping with the above vehicles will complement the existing capabilities of the Serbian Armed Forces in terms of combat missions that include rapid maneuver and will develop a new ability to overcome water obstacles by navigation, which will positively affect the ability to effectively and efficiently use forces in conducting operations of the Serbian Armed Forces. It has amphibious vehicle characteristics with at least one mechanically driven water propulsion.

It has exceptional firepower with a 30 mm 2A72 automatic cannon with double feeding and a coupled 7.62 mm machine gun. It has the ability to effectively hit targets with armor-piercing projectiles (ART) up to 2,000 m during the day and 800 m at night, with destructive projectiles (NEI) up to 3,000 m, and effectively hit group targets with machine guns at distances up to 1,500 m. An unobstructed field of action of the cannon and heavy machine gun is provided in the direction of  360°, and in elevation from - 5° to + 70°. The modernization will ensure effective engagement of armored targets with ATGM system (anti-tank guided missile) at distances of at least 2,500 m, or up to 8,000 m by installing the Kornet ATGM system.
