Veterans Sub-Echelon

A military veteran, according to the definition, is a citizen of the Republic of Serbia who participated in combat operations as a member of the Yugoslav People’s Army, the Yugoslav Army in the Homeland, the Army of Yugoslavia, the Army of Serbia and Montenegro, or as a member of the Army of Serbia in the defense of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Serbia, and who has been granted the status of a combatant or the status of a war military invalid in accordance with the law regulating the rights of veterans, military invalids, civilian war invalids, and members of their families.

In the sub-echelon of military veterans, 104 former military personnel are parading today. Today, we are joined by representatives of traditional and veterans’ associations whose activities are important for the defense system. As mentioned earlier, during their active service, many took part in combat operations, and many were members of the heroic brigades from 1999.

The symbols and insignia of military veterans include the military veterans' flag, which was ceremoniously handed over last year by the Minister of Defense to the Chief of the Directorate for Tradition, Standards, and Veterans of the Human Resources Sector on the occasion of the celebration of Military Veterans Day, and the military veterans' badge displayed on the shirts worn today by participants of the sub-echelon of military veterans.

On the right side of the main part of the military veterans’ flag is a stylized depiction of the National Flag of the Republic of Serbia. The other side of the military veterans’ flag is dark red in color, with a stylized depiction of the military veterans’ badge in the center of the flag, and below the badge is the inscription: "LOYAL TO THE HOMELAND SERBIA."

The sub-echelon is commanded by retired Brigadier General Radojko Stefanović.

The flag of the sub-echelon is carried by Lieutenant Colonel Nenad Dubovac.
