Guard Sub-Echelon

The Guard is a unit of the Serbian Armed Forces intended for the direct organisation and execution of tasks of giving military honours, defined by the protocol of government bodies, and for safeguarding vital facilities of the defence system. For the needs of the Ministry of Defence and the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, the Guard performs tasks within the purview of the Military Police and tasks concerning logistics security.
The Guard comprises the command, an HQ, guard, logistics and the 25th Military Police Battalion, as well as two departments: the Residential Facilities Department and the Special-Purpose Facilities Department.
The Guard is stationed in Belgrade, and marks May 6th as its day in remembrance of the day when the first Guard unit was formed in Požarevac, at the request of Prince Miloš Obrenović.
The sub-echelon is commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Slobodan Tresović.
The Guard flag is carried by Captain Miloš Miletić.
Members of the Guard sub-echelon wear a unique ceremonial light blue uniform, that has been the distinctive feature for more than half a century and they are armed with domestically produced 7.62 mm М 59/66 semi-automatic rifles.
