Capabilities demonstration by Special-Purpose MP Detachment “Cobras”
The forerunner of the first special counter-terrorism unit in the Yugoslav People’s Army (JNA) was the Military Police Counter-Terrorism Section, established on April 14, 1978. The traditions of that unit are now carried on by the Special-Purpose Military Police Detachment “Cobras”, which has operated under its current name since 2021.
The Special-Purpose Military Police Detachment “Cobras”, is tasked with providing security, counter-terrorism, and counter-sabotage protection for designated individuals and facilities. Additionally, the unit is responsible for safeguarding foreign military delegations.
During the military parade, members of the Special Purpose MP Detachment “Cobras” will perform a demonstration of close protection procedures for a designated individual at a public gathering.
