Guard’s Drill
Display of Drill Proficiency — the guard drill is a unique and impressive military routine performed by selected guardsmen, who are the most skillful, agile, and highly disciplined members. The training and execution of the drill display are carried out using a 7.62 mm M59/66 semi-automatic rifle, weighing 4.1 kilograms, and a disassembled bayonet measuring 1.32 meters in length.

The first official display of drill proficiency — the guard drill — was performed in 1924 in Belgrade on the occasion of the Guard’s founding day and the regiment’s celebration. From then until the Second World War, the drill was performed annually. The tradition of the drill display was revived in 2010 in Požarevac, marking the 180th anniversary of the Guard. The Guard Drill was performed during the Military Parade on Victory Day in Niš in 2019, and this year, on the occasion of the 636th anniversary of the Battle of Kosovo — Vidovdan — it was last presented to the citizens of Serbia in Kruševac.

At the military parade “Power of Unity” in Belgrade, the drill team members will perform drill maneuvers accompanied by two compositions from the Collection of Serbian Patriotic Songs: “Oj, Srbijo, mila mati” and “Tamo daleko.”
The drill commander is Second Lieutenant Đorđe Pešić.
