Minister Vučević: Young people give new strength and energy to Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces
In a ceremony held today in the Old General Staff’s Great War Hall, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Miloš Vučević presented scholarship contracts awarded by the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces to five college students and 24 high school students who fulfil the 2023/2024 scholarship competition requirements.
The contracts stipulate that, upon completion of their education, the scholarship holders will be provided employment with the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, taking up jobs in the General Staff, Material Resources Sector and the Military Health Department. Minister Vučević congratulated the scholarship winners on behalf of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces and welcomed them to the defence system.
- I hope you will complete your studies successfully, we anxiously await you, we need you and I hope you will share this positive experience with your friends and colleagues so that we can attract even those people who know nothing about what the Ministry of Defence and our state have to offer – said the minister of defence.
He highlighted the importance of giving young people incentive, as well as the need for young staff that will give new strength and energy to the defence system.- We can have the best buildings and equipment, we can buy the best weapons, we can have the best uniforms, we can increase salaries and provide adequate housing to those who need it, but if we do not have people, none of this matters. So the most important thing for us is to get new strength, new energy, and you are just that, you will bring new quality to the Ministry of Defence and the whole of Serbia, making us, your families and the entire homeland proud – said Minister Vučević.
Speaking about the scholarship winners, the minister of defence said that the Military Health Department would get the most reinforcements, as well as the Military Technical Institute and the General Staff. He said that the Human Resources Sector of the Ministry of Defence would play a crucial role in further developing this kind of assistance and support for young people during their schooling.
- I would like to ask you to work together with other people at the Ministry of Defence to increase the number of scholarships and make us even more attractive and interesting to young people, making them want to become part of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces - said Minister Vučević, expressing his hope that the military scholarship holders would finish their education as soon as possible and become part of the defence system.One of the youngest scholarship winners is Aleksandar Bajić, a student of the Technical School in Užice, who emphasizes the importance of the scholarship in both financial and professional terms.
- It allows me to continue my education. I am interested in electrical engineering and telecommunications and I would like to work in the 250th Missile Brigade, which is my childhood dream - said Bajić.
Sara Pepić is studying for a master’s degree at the Faculty of Chemistry, University of Belgrade. She says that this type of scholarship offers young people an opportunity for development and advancement.- I will work at the Military Technical Institute, here in Belgrade, and this scholarship means a lot to me. It provides motivation to young people and an opportunity to gain experience immediately after graduation. It is a tremendous opportunity for us - said Sara Pepić.
Nikola Pešić from Kraljevo is a student at the Faculty of Technical Sciences in Čačak who will also work at the Military Technical Institute once he completes his degree. Among other things, the scholarship is important for getting first employment and gaining work experience, he said.
