New Issue of “ODBRANA”
The December issue of the magazine “Odbrana” is a unique overview of a range of important dates and events that took place in the previous month - the month dedicated to the military most of all the months in a year. Therefore, we open this issue in a special manner - an editorial article which brings the interview with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Miloš Vučević. On that occasion, the first man of our Ministry stated that the strategic goal of his tenure is to make the armed forces even stronger, more numerous, more modern, better trained, and to better the social status of their members.
STANDING POINT is dedicated to the joint exercise “Manoeuvres 2022”, the greatest exercise executed in recent period. It involved both arms and all branches and services of the Serbian Armed Forces. During the exercise, the participants practised the execution of tasks from all three missions, and it was carried out on training areas, training grounds, shooting ranges and locations in the territory of the entire country.
Segment SYSTEM is exceptionally rich with topics. We have opened it with the 250th Air Defence Missile Brigade, which was in 2000 decorated with the Order of National Hero, the highest wartime recognition for achieved results and contribution to the defence of the country. The Commander of that unit, Brigadier General Tiosav Janković spoke about six decades of existence of the unit, which is unique in terms of tasks that it performs and assets that it possesses.
We visited members of 98th Air Brigade just several days before 28th November - Day of the unit, and we talked to its Commander, Colonel Dragan Mrdak and his associates. Also, we observed 2nd December - Day of 204th Air Brigade. The Commander of that brigade, Brigadier General Brane Krnjajić spoke for “Defence” about the history of the brigade, the training, their dreams, and everything that inspires them.
The Centre for Peacekeeping Operations took a prominent place on the pages of our magazine, since it marked its day on 17th November, as well 20th anniversary of the renewed participation of the SAF in multinational operations.
We also marked 3rd November, day of 74th anniversary of the Military Technical Institute, and we brought to our readers a popular story about unmanned aerial vehicles. We have visited the Aviation Sector of the Military Technical Institute, where those assets are designed and developed, and we learnt details on their construction and future application.
In the beginning of November, our associate Vlade Radulović visited Jacarta, the capital of the Republic of Indonesia, where one of the largest arms and military equipment exhibitions, not only in South East Asia but beyond, took place and he brought with him an interesting story from the scene. Among numerous world companies, our company “Jugoimport SDPR” had its stand and a notable part, as an integrator of national defence industry. The segment GLOBAL brings an interview with Major General Lise Bourgon, Acting Commander of Human Resources Command of Canadian Armed Forces.
On the occasion of marking seven decades of Mountain Rescue Service of Serbia, we present to you our associate, a photo-reporter Dimitrije Ostojić a rescuer and member of Steering Board of that organisation of citizens.
Reading “Odbrana” find out who the real Vera Pešić was, from retired general Svetko Kovač. Read about another historical figure - General Dwite David Eisenhower.
In the SPORTS segments, we have presented the Commander of the Military Academy Cadet Brigade, Colonel Milan Končar, who shared with the readers his experiences from his path towards conquering the Himalayas. This time, in the section JURIST, Lieutenant Colonel Aleksandar Gavrilović Bachelor of Law answers the question of legitimacy of a military target in international armed conflict, more precisely about the right to wage war and the rights in the war.
