Meeting with Representatives of International Organizations and Bilateral Partners in the Field of Gender Equality



A consultative meeting was held in the Guard Club on Topčider between representatives of the Sector for Defence Policy and representatives of international organisations and bilateral partners with whom the Ministry intensively cooperated in the previous period in the field of the implementation of the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 - Women, Peace and Security, and the betterment of the position of women in the system of defence.

Assistant Minister for Defence Policy Predrag Bandić welcomed representatives of the UNDP SEESAC Office in Belgrade, UN WOMEN Office, representatives of the OSCE Mission in Serbia and the US Office for Defence Cooperation, and he expressed gratitude for previous successful cooperation, which had been carried out through numerous training activities, development of studies and manuals, expert assistance in the production of reports for the second National Action Plan for the implementation of the UN Security Council Resolution 1325 - Women, Peace and Security, as well as through donations to the system of defence.

At the meeting, the participants summarised the results of the achievements made so far in the work on the implementation of the policy of equal opportunities, and they also expressed gratitude for good communication and openness for ideas, proposals and requirements. They also spoke about the cooperation in the framework of programmes and projects planned for the period to come. It was restated that the Ministry of Defence is ready to continue its active involvement in all processes that will enhance the defence system through the implementation of the UN Security Council Resolution 1325 - Women, Peace and Security, as well as the improvement of the principle of gender equality.
