Notable success of military athletes at Judo Grand Slam Abu Dhabi



Members of the Military Academy Sports Unit, civilians Aleksandar Kukolj and Anja Obradović, have participated in the Judo Grand Slam held in Abu Dhabi, where they achieved excellent scores competing against extremely strong international competitors.
Aleksandar Kukolj placed 3rd in the -100 kg category, whereas Anja Obradović narrowly missed a bronze medal, winning fifth place in the -63 kilograms category. Kukolj had no matches in the first round of the competition. In the second round, he defeated Croatia’s Marko Kumrić, in the third round he defeated the French judoka Alexandre Iddir, but was later defeated by Spain’s Nikoloz Sherazadishvili in the quarterfinals. He won the bronze medal after two victories in rematches against the Danish judoka Mathias Madsen and Romania’s Ashley Gonzalez.

During the group stage of the tournament, Anja Obradović won three victories, qualifying for the semi-finals, where she was defeated by the Portuguese judoka Bárbara Timo, and in the bronze medal match, she lost to the Dutch judoka Van Lieshout.
