Minister Stefanović: They are dedicated to protecting our fatherland
Today, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović PhD expressed his gratitude to members of the River Flotilla for their dedication to the protection of our fatherland on the rivers, canals and lakes, and for their continuous training so that they are ready at any moment to assist citizens and execute every task, regardless of weather conditions.
He reminded that members of our diving unit are currently carrying out demanding practice training in the part of the Danube near Novi Sad.
“Their job requires extreme level of training and psychophysical capabilities, and the observance of strict procedures during the execution of tasks. To do their job, you need to be in superb shape and to love river, but first of all - you have to love Serbia. Our divers meet these criteria as well, and they are also trained day and night in order to advance their capabilities”, said Minister Stefanović.
The said training on the Danube includes most diverse segments, from practising the procedures for riverbed searching, to tactical activities applied in providing anti-sabotage support to flag ship, and maintaining physical shape in hyperbaric chamber at simulated depths up to 50 metres.
