Minister Stefanović: President Vučić has worthily defended Serbia’s interests and the principles of international law at the UN

Statement by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović, PhD:

"President Vučić has once again defended the most vital state and national interests of Serbia in a convincing, statesmanlike and well-argued manner at the United Nations General Assembly. His address to world leaders will be remembered as an extremely precise and open analysis of the biggest global problems, and as a strong reminder of the importance of adherence to the core principles of the United Nations as the only way to preserve peace.
In this sense, President Vučić's insistence that the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries in the world must be respected, resonated strongly at the World Organization, because that principle is often trampled on, and the consequences are catastrophic. With President Vučić's speech, Serbia has reaffirmed itself as an important and staunch defender of international law, because the country itself was the victim of the most flagrant violation thereof.

No one can dispute the strength of the arguments put forward by President Vučić on behalf of Serbia, nor can anyone deny the fact that the violation of the territorial integrity of Serbia, in the case of the illegal secession of Kosovo and Metohija, is a global problem that requires adherence to fundamental principles on which the global community rests.

President Vučić's address, in which he spoke up in defence of those principles, is very powerful, especially now when the world is facing conflicts and violations of international law and when the right of the strongest rules. Serbia should be proud of its president because, by defending principles and law, he told the leaders of the great powers that they must start adhering to international principles again if they really want peace and stability in the world.

The greatest defender of Kosovo and Metohija - our most vital state and national interest, has once again stood up in its defence at the UN General Assembly, and his messages have once again convinced the world that Serbia is determined to defend its integrity, at the same time preserving peace and accepting the role of the crucial stability factor in the Balkans."
