Minister Stefanović visits cadets at “Orešac“ firing range

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, has visited the Military Academy armour branch cadets (144th class), who are conducting firings with the M-84 tank at the "Orešac" firing range near Vršac. On that occasion, Minister Stefanović said that it was important to conduct such trainings as often as possible in order to test our future tankers’ theoretical knowledge in practice.
"They have engaged targets at 600, 800 and 1,200 metres using the 7.62mm PKT machine gun mounted on M-84 tank. They have also used a hand-held rocket launcher, a recoilless gun and a tank-sized flank target, and they have achieved excellent results. I am particularly pleased that these young people are strongly committed and determined to become highly trained and capable officers before they join the Serbian Armed Forces units after graduating from the Academy. I am also grateful to their professors and instructors for understanding the importance of such trainings for building efficient, modern and strong armed forces," said Minister Stefanović.
The Minister of Defence was welcomed at the "Orešac" military complex by the Commandant of the Military Academy, Colonel Srđan Blagojević, PhD. After the firing practice, the Minister talked to cadets and instructors with the aim of hearing their impressions and suggestions concerning the practical training at the Military Academy.

“They are not my classmates from the “Janko Čmelik” barracks, but our cadets have made me recall my days in the military today! First they conducted firings using the M-84 tank at the “Orešac” firing range, and I would say that they are becoming first-class tankers”, wrote the Minister on his Instagram profile (@nebojsastefanovic) after his visit.
Armoured branch cadets have been at the “Orešac” military complex since May 24, where they are executing firings using the M-84 tank and the BVP M-80A infantry fighting vehicle, as well as observation practices, and on June 10 they will receive practical training as part of the Armoured Units’ Tactics course.
