Combat aircraft control training

Officers serving in the 126th ASEWG Brigade units are undergoing regular training in providing guidance to combat aircraft in fighter missions and navigation assistance to aircraft in emergency situations.  Officers serving as air controllers in ASEWG companies are undergoing training in order to maintain readiness and acquire new knowledge about aviation communication and airspace control.

This segment of training is being conducted in parallel with flight training for fighter interception crews and requires a high degree of coordination between air controllers and pilots, well-trained ASEWG unit combat teams and fully operational and highly tuned radar-computer and telecommunication equipment.

The focus is on practicing the procedures used when intercepting air targets, in order to quickly and efficiently bring an interceptor to the most favourable position.  This training is of vital importance, given that it improves the cooperation, joint action and overall capabilities of the Air Force and Air Defence units responsible for the control and protection of Serbia’s airspace.
