Minister Stefanović visits 126th ASEWG Brigade

Today, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, has visited members of the 126th Air Surveillance, Early Warning and Guidance (ASEWG) Brigade at the radar site in Stari Banovci. He said that those people were committed to protecting our sky 365 days a year, and announced that this unit would be reinforced with new radars.
The Minister of Defence was welcomed by the Air Force and Air Defence Commander, Lieutenant General Duško Žarković, and the Commander of the 126th ASEWG Brigade, Colonel Aleksandar Dučić. Minister Stefanović pointed out the dedication shown every day by members of the company on duty in Banovci and all members of the heroic 126th ASEWG Brigade.

- They are committed to protecting our sky 365 days a year. Today, I have had the opportunity to see a segment of training live, where our MiG-29 fighters were guided towards the target by receiving information from these officers here - said the Minister.

He is glad that this unit will be reinforced with new radars in the forthcoming period.
- The new radars that arrive next year will provide a much better coverage of the territory of the Republic of Serbia, and after many years, this will enhance the technological capabilities of this unit and the entire Air Force and Air Defence - Stefanović said.

He is proud of the members of the 126th ASEWG Brigade and their vast knowledge.

- A unit like this can do its job perfectly thanks to the equipment, but also thanks to the vast knowledge and experience of the people who distinguished themselves during the war and proved themselves in the most difficult moments for Serbia, defending our sky, as they defend it today. From this and other positions throughout the country, they observe our sky, defending us from all potential threats. I would like to thank General Žarković once again for the excellent team selection, they are truly dedicated, committed, they take care of our radars with great attention, they have been maintaining them all these years and when new radars arrive, they will definitely be in good hands - the Minister of Defence pointed out.  Colonel Dučić briefed the Minister on the unit’s purpose and tasks, the combat team manning the CVOJ M-11 radar-computer system demonstrated their skills, and the Minister was introduced to the S-600 and TPS-70 radar systems used by the 126th ASEWG Brigade.
