Minister Stefanović Visits Republic of Turkey



Today, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović PhD, who is paying an official visit to Turkey, visited the mausoleum of the founder and first president of the Republic of Turkey, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, in Ankara, where he laid wreaths and paid homage.

“The human greatness is reflected in a man’s effort aimed at the wellbeing of the people around him. The spirit of the father of the Republic of Turkey, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk that is omnipresent even today, confirms his greatness and timeless heights that he reached. With the assurances of deep respect and admiration for this great soldier of his people, who remained adamant on his path of reform for the purpose of the creation of modern and progressive state, confident that Turkey would always follow his principles of understanding, lasting peace and cooperation with the Republic of Serbia and all other states worldwide. May the memory of him live forever!” wrote Minister Stefanović in the memorial book in the mausoleum. 

Fifteen years after his death, the mortal remains of the founder of the modern Turkish state, Kemal Atatürk were moved to the Mausoleum Anitkabir, on a hill above Ankara, the construction of which was completed in 1953. The Mausoleum is surrounded by the Park of Peace in honour of Atatürk’s well known saying that guided him in the international relations “Peace at home, peace in the world”.

Today, in Ankara, Minister Stefanović will meet Minister of National Defence Hulusi Akar, and during the visit the two ministers will attend an exercise carried out by Turkish Armed Forces on the training ground “General Nahit Şenoğul” in Polatli.
