Brig. Gen. Simovic said on this occasion that the project of renovating the SAF Dome was of great importance to the unit members who are tasked with securing the administrative line towards Kosovo. He thanked the donors and invited them to visit Vranje in order to get an insight into how works are progressing.

The USA are expected to soon become engaged into this project.

The funds will be used for setting up and equipping the media center which will be located in the SAF Dome in Vranje. The MoD has already allocated funds for the building reconstruction, and the works are already under way.

The building was built in 1933 as an officers’ dome. It is in the downtown of Vranje and is under the protection of state as a building of great cultural importance. Its capacities were used for the activities of Vranje garrison and for the needs of civilian structures. The last time the building was renovated was in 1968.

A renovated dome will be used for presentations, conferences and cultural events of significance for the local community and the garrison members.
