Stefanović: We will continue resolving housing issues for members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces

Today, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, handed over apartment keys to active and retired members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces and widows of the deceased members in the Old General Staff’s Great War Hall. Stefanović said that the government would continue to improve the standard of living and resolve housing issues of people who had fought for this country and dedicated their lives to it.
According to him, the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces can and must look after all their active and retired members, but also after the families of the deceased colleagues.

- Thanks to the fact that our country is stronger today, it can certainly do more and it is my honour to congratulate you and your families today on your new homes. In addition to the major state housing programme, which enables all members of security forces to buy apartments at much lower prices than the market ones, we will continue resolving housing issues for a large number of people who are entitled to it. They have fought for this country and dedicated their whole lives to serving in the Serbian Armed Forces, honourably retired or are still among the Serbian Armed Forces’ ranks, and their housing issues need to be solved – Minister Stefanović said.
Minister of Defence stresses that it is important to show solidarity with the people who have spent their lives in the military, lives that have not been easy, defending the freedom of our people, but also that people who are still serving in the military should not worry about this aspect of their lives, but that they should be able to dedicate themselves to work one hundred percent.

- We will try to show how much we appreciate that and we will try to fight even harder for those colleagues who have not solved their housing issues yet, because it is important that they and their families have roofs over their heads – Minister Stefanović said.

Congratulating the 24 members of the MOD and SAF who received apartments today, Minister Stefanović expressed hope that the keys he handed over to them would be the keys to a better, safer, and more successful future.
Lieutenant Colonel Goran Pavlović from the MOD’s Sector for Material Resources is one of the people who were handed over keys to new apartments today. He points out that today he has solved a very big problem in his family’s life.

- I am very happy that I have managed to solve my housing issue with the help of the Ministry of Defence. I got a two-room apartment in General Ždanova Street in New Belgrade, in a nice location – Lieutenant Colonel Pavlović emphasized, expressing gratitude to the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces for helping him resolve his housing issue, making his family members very happy.

Civilian employee Slavica Lužnik emphasizes that this is a special day for her and that she is happy to leave today’s ceremony with the keys to her new apartment.
- Today’s apartment handover ceremony confirms that the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces look after their members, their material welfare and the improvement of their standard of living. I am satisfied with the apartment I got. It is a 40 square metre apartment in Niš – Slavica Lužnik said, also thanking the Ministry of Defence.

These apartments are the property of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces and are leased for an indefinite period at very low prices, with the option for lessees to purchase them.
