Minister Vulin: Vučić fights for Kosovo and Metohija

- The upcoming talks in Washington are going to be very hard. Each of those meetings is extremely difficult, and there is nothing nice about it, you talk to people though you know that they truly hate your people and your country and who have but one interest and that interest is to harm you in some way. And yet, you have to talk to them – said today Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin in breakfast television programme of “Pink” television station, commenting on the forthcoming talks of President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić and Premier of so-called Kosovo Avdullah Hoti in Washington and Brussels.

As he pointed out, the great powers always have their agenda and they do not pay much attention to “what we, the small ones, think and how much something hurts us or gives us joy”.

- In 2012, I was a witness when they did not ask us a single thing; they brought us papers that we even did not need to sign, just to read and implement, because the ones before us had agreed everything, and then President Vučić undertook the historical responsibility upon himself so they started consulting us since 2012. That is not easy, but President Vučić managed to win our right to be observed as a party which has an interest – Minister Vulin stressed and added that over past eight years he had heard “that we have already concluded the negotiations and lost and that Kosovo has been recognised, and that Vučić signed and promissed“.

- They rejoice at that. We have never heard them say the word “our”, that it is “our delegation”, and that “it represents our country”, and that we have “our interests”. Not ever; but we always hear how something very bad should be done Vučić, and that he should be proclaimed a traitor. They have been declaring him a traitor for eight years now, and in the course of that time he could have recognised whatever he wanted, but it did not cross his mind to do anything that can harm the Serbs and Serbia – the minister of defence pointed out.

Speaking about the president’s address to the public several days before in which he stated that there had been “a range of wrong decisions made in the 90s”, Minister Vulin said that it had been obvious woe “hard and bitter” that speech had been and that the president said the truth.

- He always tells the truth and it is the truth that is hard. But he tells the truth and continues to fight. And he does fight. They have been lying for eight years that he has recognised Kosovo. I have been here since the first day, and in 2012 I was honoured to be a Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, and I know that not a single day passed without someone appearing stating that Vučić had betrayed Kosovo. He has been suffering blows for eight years from within, where he should not by all means suffer them, and where we should say “our delegation”, “our interests”, “our Serbia” – Minister Vulin stressed and called upon them to say what they would have done in those eight years.

- Stop lying! If you are unable to say anything good, do not obstruct. You know that Aleksandar Vučić goes to Washington to fight and it is going to be very difficult – stated the minister of defence.
