Congratulatory message of the President of the Republic, Aleksandar Vučić, on the occasion of the Serbian Armed Forces Day

The President of the Republic of Serbia and the Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces, Aleksandar Vučić, congratulated the members of the Serbian Armed Forces on the occasion of 23rd April, the Serbian Armed Forces Day.

“I congratulate all the members of the Serbian Armed Forces on 23rd April – the Serbian Armed Forces Day.

Continuing the centuries-old tradition of the Serbian Armed Forces, on this day, which is of great importance for preserving the national identity and continuity of the statehood of the Serbian people for more than two centuries, you are celebrating the greatest military holiday in memory of the Takovo Uprising.

Despite the complex conditions in which the members of the Serbian Armed Forces work by professionally performing dedicated tasks and achieving remarkable results in the forming, development, and training of their units, they make a great contribution to the prosperity of our country and its citizens and provide full support for the strengthening of peace, security and stabilization in the region, and beyond.

By constantly engaging your members during the difficult times that our country and the entire world are going through and selflessly risking your lives, as well as the lives of your loved ones, you have shown and proved that the Serbian Armed Forces are always there for their citizens, as the first pillar of defence and the guarantor of security.

The results of serious fiscal reforms and the economic recovery of Serbia have enabled us to achieve significant results in equipping the Serbian Armed Forces with modern weapons and equipment in the previous period. The constant increase in salaries and resolving housing issues through the State Housing Programme for members of the security forces contribute to raising the standards of our officers, NCOs and soldiers. We will continue these and all other activities in the area of raising the standard in the future.

I congratulate you on the holiday, and I am grateful for your existence and convinced that you will continue to perform your assigned tasks professionally in the coming period, and fulfil your obligations and lead the Republic of Serbia towards prosperity and a better future as an active security factor in the country and the region.

Long live the Serbian Armed Forces! Long live Serbia! ”
