Minister Vulin: The Serbian Armed Forces have contributed to the functioning of everything in the best possible way

The Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin said today in the “Magazine on Radio 1” show on Radio Belgrade 1 station that the citizens of Serbia know and see every day that the Serbian Armed Forces have contributed to the functioning of everything in the best possible way during the pandemic. Minister Vulin also spoke about the engagement of the Serbian Armed Forces during the state of emergency.

- The Serbian Armed Forces secure all healthcare facilities in this country, assist in securing all nursing homes which accommodate more than 30 elderly persons, participate in securing all border crossings together with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and make sure that all migrant camps are safe and secure. The military has equipped temporary hospitals in this country, it has provided an opportunity for all citizens of Serbia to use their healthcare facilities, and it has formed one of the better Covid hospitals - the Karaburma Military Medical Centre - said the Minister of Defence and emphasized that the Serbian Armed forces are always there.
According to the Minister of Defence, the reserves have also been called up to help, and, as he pointed out, in these difficult times people always show their true face.

- Some show their best side while others show their worst side. We called on a very small and limited number of people from the reserve for help. They served civilian military service in health centres, so they were prepared for this situation. The vast majority responded, and the people we had not even called up began to contact us. These are retired military doctors, medical technicians and military personnel who have recently retired - said the Minister of Defence and said that Serbia showed its most beautiful side in these moments.

Speaking about the cooperation between civilian and military health care during the state of emergency, Minister Vulin said that Serbia has vast experience from the difficult times of wars and natural disasters, during which military and civilian health care functioned as one.

- This is the way we function now, and our main task is to protect our country, its citizens and all patients, no matter where they come from - Minister Vulin emphasized.

During the state of emergency, the Serbian Armed Forces went ahead with their plans of training activities, made sure that the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our country were not threatened at any moment, and although citizens were not able to see that, the Serbian Armed Forces also made sure that no bridges were built in Kosovska Mitrovica and that no one tried to invade the north of the city, the Minister of Defence said.

Keeping everything safe and secure, the Minister of Defence emphasized, the Serbian Armed Forces make sure that no aircraft breaches our airspace.

- I am grateful to all the members of the Serbian Armed Forces and the Ministry of Defence, the Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, General Mojsilović and all the people who worked day and night to make sure that life in the state of Serbia runs smoothly and undisturbed, and that at the same time, the Serbian Armed Forces do not lose a fraction of their capabilities and that their combat readiness does not diminish in the slightest,” Minister Vulin said.
