I congratulate 5th February – Day of the Strategic Research Institute to all members of the Institute.
On this date in 1876, a Decree of Prince Milan Obrenović was passed on the “Establishment of the Main General Staff” which enabled establishment of the first institutionalised work on the military history. A professor of history and geography in the Artillery School, Jovan Dragašević, laid foundations for the work on writing of the military history and gathering archival material.
I am confident that you will in the upcoming period, continuing more than a century long tradition, give full contribution both in the field of historiographical and scientific-research work, and the promotion of the Serbian Armed Forces and the Ministry of Defence.

With your professional execution of tasks, you worthily cherish the traditions of the Geography Division intended for survey of Serbia for military requirements which Prince Milan Obrenović established precisely 144 years ago.
By their conscientious and responsible work, your members give significant contribution to provision of geotopographic material for the requirements of our armed forces, but they also achieve notable results in execution of projects of wider social importance.

Congratulatory Message on the Occasion of the Day of the Military Archive
I sincerely congratulate 5th February – Day of the Military Archive to all members of that institution.
By continuing the tradition of the Third Historical Division of the Main General Staff founded in 1876, in the year behind us, apart from its daily obligations, the Military Archive published a capital work – Collection of Documents of the Military Archive “Register of human military losses of the Kingdom of Serbia in the First World War – archive material of the Military Archives”, which immensely contributed to the culture of the entire country thus making contribution to prosperity of the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces as one of its most significant institutions.
I congratulate this holiday to you, confident that this will be but one in the array of your feats and that you will continue through your engagement demonstrating the importance of your institution for the preservation and presentation of national spirit and tradition of not only the Serbian Armed Forces but of the state as a whole.
