A five member panel decides the winner of the Journalists’ award “Ivan Marković”, and this time the panel consisted of: Radenko Mutavdžić PhD, Head of the Internet Group in the Public Relations Department, as the Chair, Dragana Marković, Chief Editor of magazine “Odbrana”, Lieutenant Commander Ivan Buljugić, Head of Information Group of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, Biljana Miljić, reporter in Media Division of Public Relations Department and Vladimir Vještić reporter of the magazine “Odbrana”.

There were 17 journalist works that applied for the competition for the Journalists’ award “Ivan Marković” of the Media Centre “Odbrana” – seven pieces of television coverage 10 pieces of printed media coverage.

By majority of votes, the panel decided that the best journalist coverage was the text “400 Tanks of the Yugoslav Armed Forces Crawled Out Intact – to NATO’s shock” by the author Rade Dragović, published on 9th June 2019 in the magazine “Večernje Novosti”. In its rationale the panel states that the author managed to integrate a wider picture of NATO aggression against the FR Yugoslavia in 1999 and heroic defence by the Yugoslav Armed Forces, particularly in Kosovo and Metohija and on the border with Albania. By pointing to key events of defence over 78 days under bombs, along with daily attacks of KLA terrorists all over Kosovo and Metohija, the author gives a range of concrete data which testify to the success of the country’s defence, and that the enemy was taken aback by how well planned and lead the defence was.

The panel unanimously decided to award this year’s Special Recognition to the editorial office of “Sputnik” for the film series dedicated to the 20th anniversary of defence against NATO aggression. Through 20 filmed stories, they elaborated key events of NATO aggression and heroic defence of the FR Yugoslavia, so the series provide a rather considerable and documentary rich overview of what had happened over 78 days of the aggression in political and military plane. The rationale states that the editorial office of “Sputnik” and authors of the stories have made great efforts which is recognised by the panel of the journalist reward “Ivan Marković” and rewarded by Special recognition.
