Meeting of the Ministers of Defense of Serbia and the Russian Federation

During the Shanghai Forum in Beijing, the Serbian Minister of Defense, Aleksandar Vulin met with the Russian Minister of Defense, Sergei Shoigu. This was the eighth meeting since Aleksandar Vulin took over the department of defense.

Minister Shoigu congratulated his Serbian counterpart on the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Belgrade. He said that Russia and Serbia had suffered heavy casualties in the fight against fascism in World War II, and stressed that countries should  be valued not according to their size but according to their contribution to history.

Giving thanks that the anniversary of the liberation of the Serbian capital was also marked in Moscow, Minister Vulin went on to point out that throughout history, our country has never chosen the wrong side, and that even much larger countries can learn from us.

Minister Shoigu once again invited the President of Serbia and the Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces, Aleksandar Vučić, and members of the Serbian Armed Forces to participate in the parade in Moscow next year to mark the 75th anniversary of the victory over fascism in World War II.
The Ministers agreed that the military-military and military-technical cooperation between the two countries was very active and will continue to develop, and also that the relations between the Republic of Serbia and the Russian Federation are at the highest level thanks to the good and friendly relations between Presidents and Supreme Commanders, Vučić and Putin.

Minister Vulin said that our country would continue to pursue the policy of military neutrality and that while Aleksandar Vučić was in charge of Serbia, it would never become part of NATO or any other military alliance.
