Permanent health care for persons in Bristol

From the first day of the hunger strike of the persons who stayed at the former Bristol Hotel on 5th September, the teams of the Centre for Military Medical Institutions Belgrade visit these persons on a regular basis in order to act preventively and solve their health problems. To date, eight people have been checked up and today, one woman has been given medical attention for an allergic reaction, while others are in stable condition and have no health problems.

Emergency medical teams will continue to visit the persons at Bristol regularly, twice a day, and even more often if necessary, to prevent the effects on their health on time.

The Ministry of Defence again, clearly and consistently, calls upon those who have stayed in Bristol to move into apartments they have already visited in Block A, Vračar and Zvezdara in Belgrade, in accordance with the rights they exercise.

However, only four of them responded to the repeated invitation to all those staying in Bristol to speak with representatives of the Ministry of Defence in order to find a solution. The others obviously do not want to seek a common solution to the problem with the Ministry of Defence.

The Ministry of Defence remains consistently with the position that the issue of the housing solution for persons in Bristol should be resolved within the laws and established procedures which were presented to them, respecting the unified housing waiting list for those interested within the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces including 18,000 persons. In the event that persons who stayed at Bristol get permanent housing solution, other housing stakeholders would have the right to sue the Ministry of Defence and win the lawsuit. Due to similar violations of the law in 2008, the Ministry of Defence paid RSD 6 billion in the last two years for court judgements on claims of discrimination against reservists. That is why such violations will not be repeated in this or in any other case.

This time too, the Ministry of Defence reiterates its call upon Bristol residents to accept the proposed solution, irresponsible politicians not to abuse the fate and health of those who stayed in Bristol, as it is doing them harm, misleading the public and creating a distorted picture of the substance of the problem, for which they offer only illegal solutions, unlike the Ministry of Defence that seeks to address this problem lawfully and to no one's detriment.
