New Issue of “ODBRANA” published

Starting with the April issue “Odbrana” is going to come out as a monthly – including a new concept and design.

“I have them, but they also have me” – the last words of the Commander of 204 Hunter and Aviation Regiment, Lieutenant-Colonel Milenko Pavlović recorded by the radio link. When his MiG 29 flew into the sky above Serbia on 4 May 1999, Lieutenant-Colonel Pavlović knew that he would be the target of a far more powerful enemy. His final flight was the expression of officer honor, unbreakable spirit, unshakable courage, but also a particular kind of defiance. Post stamp with the image of pilot Milenko Pavlović was just released into circulation. Letters with his face will fly where no one had ever flown before ... Neither he, not the others who lost their lives during 78 days of NATO aggression. The least we owe them is – memory.

20 years have passed since the NATO aggression on FRY. This is the occasion for a several international meetings held on this topic. Remembrance Day has taken us back to that time.

There is a whole philosophical line of thought which says that the essence of the phenomenon is reached by asking the right questions. In preparing the April number of “Odbrana”, we asked the interlocutors who benefited from and what the purpose was of the aggression on the FRY, what has marked the past 20 years in the life of Serbia and in direct cause and consequence connection with the aggression, what its prolonged results look like ... We wrote about Račak – once again. We highlighted the best unit of the Land Forces, the best MMA clinic, explained why Professor Alain Badiou, who according to the power and importance of thought should be compared to Chomsky, should be read ...

With the text about Greater Albania and how this idea is interpreted in the light of the latest developments, we tried to round off the topic of this issue.
We recommend to the attention of readers the interview with the Minister of Defense, Aleksandar Vulin. The Minister spoke about the consequences of the NATO aggression imprinted in the tissue of Serbia, about the armed forces that did not fail us, about the people who did not give up on their armed forces. What kind of armed force is needed today, what status Serbia holds at this moment, what the backbone of a valid national strategy is, and what is currently worth fighting for are just some of the issues raised.

INTERVIEW WITH A CAUSE – Minister of Defense Aleksandar Vulin:
We preserved the right to fight and to hope

The armed forces have saved the country. The resistance was heroic, persistent, insolent beyond what was hoped for. Our commanders showed courage, and also superior military knowledge. We did not defeat the NATO, they were far too numerous, too powerful, to well armed, but we did not capitulate – we saved the right to fight and to hope.
