Cooperation with the Republic of Greece in the field of defense




State Secretary in the Ministry of Defense, Aleksandar Živković, met today in Belgrade with the members of the delegation of the Hellenic National Defense General Staff, led by the Head of the Department for International Military Cooperation, Commander Michael Naum.

During the meeting, views on the political and security situation in the region were exchanged.

State Secretary Živković gave thanks for the continued support of the Republic of Greece in preserving the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Serbia in Kosovo and Metohija, and especially emphasized the professional attitude of Greek soldiers in the KFOR.

Within the framework of the regular expert talks on defense cooperation in Belgrade, Commander Naum met the head of the Directorate for International Military Cooperation of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Serbia, Colonel Milan Ranković. At that meeting, the interlocutors expressed satisfaction with the achieved level of cooperation in the field of defense.

Colonel Ranković pointed out that military-military cooperation has intensified over the last two years, which the joint exercises of special units of the two armed forces significantly contributes to.

Commodore Naum reiterated the readiness of the Republic of Greece to continue support and exchange of experiences, especially in the engagement of the Republic of Serbia in the combat group of the European Union HELBROC.

Both sides have confirmed their commitment to intensifying military education and military-economic cooperation. At the end of the talks, the Plan for Bilateral Military Cooperation for 2019 was agreed and signed.

The delegation of the Hellenic National Defense General Staff also visited the Military Medical Academy and the Center for Peacekeeping Operations.
