Officers` Ball in Vranje





In the breathtaking setting of the grand hall of the Armed Forces Officers’ Club in Vranje, Officers’ Ballwas held as officers and non-commissioned officers of the Fourth Brigade of the Land Forces, their wives and girlfriendsdanced the beauty and spirit of the old Serbian music and kolo into the hearts and minds of all present.

Commander of the Land Forces, Lieutenant General MilosavSimović, Mayor of the Pčinja District, SrećkoPejković, Mayor of Vranje, Slobodan Milenković, and other guests, could see for themselves that the members of the Fourth Brigade with their dancing and music are worthy keepers of the traditions of the Officers` Balls in Vranje. Commander of the Fourth Brigade, Brigadier General Slobodan Stopa, while opening the Ball, emphasized that it was this unit that in 2008 reinstated the tradition of officers` balls into the SerbianArmed Forces.
- There is no doubt that the Fourth Brigade and Vranje were the initiators, and for a long also the center of events related to dancing in the Serbian Armed Forces, by organizing Officers’ Balls as well as by establishing the dance section, General Stop pointed out.

The Officers’ Ball started with the performance of the dance group “Tamodaleko” (“Far away”), followed by officers and non-commissioned officers dancing “Kraljevokolo”(“King’s kolo”) and “Officirskokolo” (“Officers’kolo”) with their wives and girlfriends, waltzes and kolo dancesto folk songsfrom Vranje. The program included the chamber orchestra and the choir of the Music School “StevanMokranjac”, the vocal soloists DragoslavMihajlovićKanarinac and BranimirStošićKace and the virtuoso on the accordion Slobodan Jovanović Cobi. Lieutenant Goran Stojanović and SergeantNenadSmiljkovićbrought a special thrill toeveryone present while singing well known and liked melodies of Serbian music traditionwearing old Serbian uniforms.

This year, the Officers’ Ball in Vranje was held as part of the celebration of the Statehood Day and Women's Day, and the renovated building of the Officers’ Clubproved worthy of the epithet of the most beautiful city establishment and the perfect place for hosting manifestations of this kind.
Officers’ Ballswill be held in Niš, Novi Sad, Kraljevo and Pančevo next week.
