First course for training civilians for participation in multinational operations completed




State Secretary Aleksandar Živković presented participants of the Course for Training Civilians for Participating in Multinational Operations with certificates upon successful completion of the course. Assistant Foreign Minister Branimir Filipović, Robert Kucharski, Head of Department for Cooperation in the Security Sector of the OSCE Mission to Serbia, Brigadier General Vladeta Baltić, Deputy Commander of the Land Forces and Brigadier General Slobodan Stopa, Commander of the 4th Land Force Brigade, also attended the ceremonial closing of the course in Vranje.
 
A pilot training course for civilians for participating in multinational operations lasted from 26 November to 7 December, and was organized by the Directorate for European Integration and Project Management of the Ministry of Defense, the Center for Peacekeeping Operations of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces and the Centre for Training Units for Multinational Operations of the Armed Forces of Serbia at South base. The course was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Defense and the Serbian Armed Forces, as well as the representatives of the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of European Integration, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Public Administration, the Local Self-Government and other state institutions.
 
The first, theoretical part of the course was held at the Center for Peacekeeping Operations in Belgrade, with lectures by local and foreign instructors from the Center for Conflict Prevention in Vienna, the European Foreign Service and the Center for International Peace Operations in Berlin.
 
A part of the practical training was held in Kraljevo, where the trainees passed training on vehicles of the Serbian Armed Forces in field conditions, with instructors from the Battalion for the training of the Traffic Service.
 
The second part of the practical training was held at the South base, where a series of screenings and simulations were held within the capacity of the Centre for Training Units for Multinational Operations, in which a training to deal with various situations that could be encountered during engagement in the mission took place. Instructors of Centre for Training Units for Multinational Operations and lecturers from the Santa Ana University in Italy and the Center for International Peace Operations from Berlin implemented the training.
 
Within the framework of cooperation of the Ministry of Defense with the civil society organizations, the course was supported by the International and Security Affairs Center (ISAC Fund).
