Marking the Day of “Stanislav Binicki” Artistic Ensemble of the Ministry of Defence



The “Stanislav Binički” Artistic Ensemble of the Ministry of Defence marked its day and the 119th anniversary of its existence in a ceremony on the renovated terrace of the Central Military Club in Belgrade, tonight.

Summarizing the results achieved between the two holidays, Commander Svetozar Vasileski, Head of the “Binički” Artistic Ensemble, first thanked all former members of “Binički” for their tireless work over the years, and pointed out several notable performances – St Sava's Day Ball in Vienna, St. Vitus' Day concert in Bijeljina and a remarkable performance in July this year at the Kombank Hall, in the opera “Don Giovanni”, together with the soloists of the Metropolitan Opera of New York and Chinese artists.
 
- It is an honour to be a representative of our country, and being a military musician is the privilege we are proud of, Commander Vasileski said.
 
Captain (Navy) Petar Bošković, Head of the Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Defence also addressed the participants.
- Every performance of “Binički” is an exemplary media event that best describes the Armed Forces and the Ministry of Defence. I wish you to celebrate the next anniversary, 120 years of establishment, in full composition, with far better working conditions and with lots of great concerts – Captain Bošković said.
 
The evening ceremony was also attended by Lieutenant General Milan Mojsilović, Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, representatives of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, as well as friends of the ensemble, including Nikola Rackov, Vojkan Borisavljević, Jasmin Trumbetaš, Oliver Njego, Zorica Tasić, Jadranka Jovanović, Dušan Svilar, as well as actors from the “Military Academy” series.
 
The celebration of the anniversary and the holiday was also an occasion to award the most successful members of the ensemble – conductor Pavle Medaković, Uroš Kovandžić, Ivana Sremac Stojanović, Marija Sekulić and Božidar Antić. Special Letters of Appreciation were also conferred to associates of “Binički”, including “Zastava Film” MFC, Faculty of Music Arts and Radio Belgrade.
 
Guests on the roof-top terrace of the Belgrade Central Military Club have also had opportunity tonight to enjoy the performances of the Mixed Choir of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, and in the performance of the “Old Hat Orchestra” band.
